ABOUT

Jean-Marc Perc, based in Vienna, Austria, channels deep progressive influences under his project The Last Cell, which surfaced in 2018. Drawing inspiration from notable artists like I Built The Sky, Plini, and Periphery, Jean-Marc’s debut with The Last Cell began with the release of the concept EP NAUTILUS in March 2018, starting his musical exploration of existence with the origins of life in water.

After establishing his unique voice in the prog scene, Lukas Florian (Bass) and Robin Weber (Drums) joined as stage members. The band debuted in Vienna, sharing the stage with Their Dogs Were Astronauts in 2018, and set their sights on conquering the prog world across Europe and beyond. In 2019, The Last Cell released their second, earth themed EP, Continental Drift, followed by a local headliner tour. The singles Airieleon featuring guitarist and musician Poh Hock, and Leap were released in 2020.

The latter half of 2020 marked a significant milestone with the release of the third EP, Veter on October 30th, musically encapsulating the freedom and expansion of life through air. In 2021, Jean-Marc collaborated with Krimh to release the single Ikigai continuing the band’s narrative about life, uncertainty, and the end of it all.

In 2024, guitarist Matevž Počič joined the lineup, expanding The Last Cell to a quartet. That same year, the band was personally selected by Ichika Nito as supporting act at Viper Room Vienna. With the EP Dramua, released in 2024, Jean-Marc Perc brings the elemental cycle to a heavy and aggressive finish, where everything returns to the essence of where it began. As he is already working on new material in the uncharted territory ahead, we can be certain:

As the universe marches toward extinction, one entity remains –

The Last Cell.
